Got a call from a lady during the week. She said she was buying a house she needed a homebuyers survey. She asked me if I did that type of survey and how much would it cost?
I advised that I didn’t do home buyer surveys although that’s a pretty standard type of survey that people expect to have done and when they are buying a house. I did add however that to be perfectly frank, a homebuyer survey might not necessarily be the best type of survey to go for. It doesn’t always tell you enough about the structural condition of the house especially if it’s older than 15 years.
I explained type of survey I do. And how it’s specially geared up to tell the buyer everything they really need to know about structural condition of a house. Things like:
- Foundation movement and cracking and bulging in the walls
- Sloping floors
- Sagging roofs
- Chimney breasts not prop supported
- Dampness in the walls and floors
She then said that sounds exactly what she needs to know. Then she added that I had got the job and when could I do it?
